NASA Hackathon

The picturesque and fascinating Jawaharat Wasil Resort (Bidiya Green Homes) of Tamkeen Group was the chosen venue for the prestigious and innovative NASA Space Application Hackathon 2023, conducted by the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Ibra on 07 and 08 Oct 2023.  The Oman edition of the NASA Space Application Hackathon 2023, which was held worldwide with participation of 186 countries, was conducted in Muscat and JWR.  

The top honour for the hackathon at JWR was bagged by the team UTAS team named ‘Seekers of Horizons’. The team comprising Rawwa bint Abdullah al Fusiyah, Safaa bint Ahemd Al Alawiyah, Asmaa bint Abdulrab al Balushiyah, Amjad bin Abdullah al Maawaliyah and Ahmed bin Saad al Harathi were awarded the title for the best project in the open science category, highlighting their remarkable dedication to face the challenges of the climate change.  

The team’s project brought to fore the power of innovation and the importance of global awareness of such a critical issue. Their project is aligned with Oman’s strategic vision 2040.  Initiatives like these supported by organsiations like NASA, enable people with the means to confront our planet’s environmental challenges and secure a sustainable future.  What could be a better venue than the JWR which promotes sustainability as one of the basic principles of its operations in the lap of nature.  

Hosting of such events would enhance the awareness of sustainability amongst the participants as well as the observers thereby spreading the message far and wide.
